Overview: Teaching at Westwood Children's School

Westwood Children's School offers a quality program which recognizes the holistic development of young children and promotes their cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth. In doing so, the Westwood Children's School provides a stimulating environment with positive, nurturing care and a well-developed curriculum. We provide a variety of experiences and activities designed to encourage children to learn about themselves, their friends, and their surroundings. This is done in small and large group experiences, quiet times and active play, as well as indoor and outdoor activities. 

Position Details:

  • Full-time, year-round position
  • 30-40 hours/week
  • Hours:10 am - 6 pm
  • Our developmental program is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
  • The School cares for children ages two months through preschool. The children are grouped according to the following:
    • 3 months - 12 months Infants, ratio of children to adults: 7/2
    • 12 months - 18 months Older Infants, ratio of children to adults: 7/2
    • 18 months - 24 months Toddler I class, ratio of children to adults: 9/2
    • 24 months - 2.9 years Toddler II class, ratio of children to adults: 9/2
    • 2.9 years - 3.9 years Preschool, ratio of children to adults: 10/1
  • Our goal is to consistently staff one over the state required ratios in all of our classrooms.

Requirements / Experience Needed:

  • Required:
    • EEC qualified infant/toddler teacher
    • Toddler or preschool teaching experience
    • Associate’s/Bachelor’s Degree or working towards degree
  • ​Preferred:
    • Early Childhood Education Degree
    • Associate’s/Bachelor’s Degree in related field
